Ok here's the deal:
A couple of months ago some aquaintances of mine came into town on business. They were looking for some fun and being new to the hobby they made a huge mistake by ramdomly selecting girls off Backpage here in Memphis. Both were basically ripped off in one way or another so they enlisted my advice. Apparently after some research, Memphis has the worst reputation for providers off Backpage compared to most cities I researched. I spent a little over a month doing this research and I am a VIP member on all 4 major sites so I have access to all the reviews. I even went as far as cross referencing phone numbers and checking for reviews in different States. This also accounted for name changes as well.
In fact based on reviews from all 4 major sites (TER, Bigdoggie, USA Guide and )in Memphis you had a 1 in 4 CHANCE of actually getting what you paid for using girls off Backpage. This means 75% yes 75% of the encounters with girls off Backpage here in Memphis were in some shape or form a RIP OFF! The rip offs included bait and switch with pics, service not provided as advertised, upselling, to flat taking the money and run! Note: if the providers did not have any reviews on at least one of the legit sites, it counted as a negative as no reviews are as bad as bad reviews.
Another fact I found was that most legit providers charged between 50.00 to 100.00 more than what the average Backpage girl charged. Could it be that girls charging less money are trying to sucker you in? It appears that way. However I would not pay in the 250.00 to 300.00/hr range unless the provider has some substantially good reviews.
I've been in the hobby over 15 years and yes I too have been ripped off a couple of times, but I learned some simple rules that have prevented any "bad encounters" over the past 5 years. I'm going to share them with you as I'm sick of reading about all the rip offs here in Memphis on the review boards. Note: I'm not getting any endorsement or perks from my recomendations. This is free advice for fellow hobbyist in Memphis.
(1) Use reputable sites such as , TER, USA or Big Doggie when selecting your provider.
(2) If the provider has no reviews on any of the 4 major boards listed above move on the next one.
(3) Ocassionally reputable providers will advertise on Backpage and in most cases provide a link to either their reviews or a legit website.
(4) Steer clear of the ads that use tacky advertising or distastefull pics. 9 times out of 10 these are street walkers with pimps using the internet instead of Lamar ave and their pics are FAKE.
(5) Any REPUTABLE provider will require references from previous providers you have seen and at the very least some sort of screening using date check, P411 or Room Service 2000. This is for their safety as well as yours! They require this because they do not have a pimp in the next room or out in the parking lot lurking.
(6) Avoid last minute setups. Any provider that sees you on a whim or last minute call is not going to be legit unless you have seen them before. Trust me on this as this is how one of my rip offs occured.
(7) Avoid providers that use seedy motels in bad parts of town. If you are new to the city, use your best judgement when you arrive at your location. If the motel looks run down or in a seedy area, there's a good chance you are being setup so just keep on driving.
(8) If you new to the city or just visiting, go to one of the major review boards( most have live online chat) and ask one of the hobbyist here for a recommendation. Most hobbyists have a fav and don't mind sharing.
(9)Last and most importantly, use your gut feeling. If the situation or provider doesn't feel legit, it best to move on to next one. Dont let the little out think the big one. In almost all of bad reviews I read, the reviewer had a bad feeling about it before the encounter began. Trust your intuition.
(10) If you have a bad encounter for whatever reason, by all means post it on TER at the very least. The site is free to post reviews on after you sign up and this will help other hobbyists down the road in making their decisions.
If you follow these 10 simple steps, I promise the chances of you getting ripped off will almost be nill. There's always a chance you wont click with a reputable provider but at the very least you will get serviced.
